Saying goodbye to winter

Yikes! What happened to winter?

It still looked like winter Saturday morning when I left town for an overnight trip to the getaway in northern Minnesota, but the steadily rising temperature suggested the snow that was so late in coming would be making a quick getaway.

Snowmobiles everywhere likely will be relegated to storage for another season after this past weekend's warm snap.

I decided to take advantage of the weather and put the snowmobile to work, hauling some wood I’d cut for the fire pit a few weeks earlier. This is the best time to put up firewood because there are no bugs or ticks, and the temperature is relatively cool.

Besides, days like we enjoyed this past weekend are best spent outside.
