Northland Tackle founders to be honored

Brothers John and Duane Peterson of Bemidji are being inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame as “Legendary Anglers,” and a reception and appreciation event in their honor is scheduled for 5 to 11 p.m. April 14 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji.

The Petersons founded Northland Fishing Tackle Co. in 1983, and the company today employs more than 150 full-time workers in Bemidji and Ranier, Minn., according to a news release from the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. The Hayward, Wis.-based hall also cited the Petersons’ efforts to share their fishing passion and skills as factors in their Hall of Fame selection.

Besides the Bemidji event, which is by invitation-only, the Petersons will be honored during an induction ceremony set for 3 p.m. March 31 at the Northwest Sport Show in Minneapolis.
