The communities of Devils Lake, along with Warroad and Baudette in Minnesota, are among the 650 nominees in this year’s Ultimate Fishing Town competition.
The World Fishing Network, which bills itself as “the only 24/7 television network dedicated to all segments of fishing,” coordinates the Ultimate Fishing Town contest.
The WFN is accepting nominations for the contest until April 30, and the public will be able to vote on their favorites from May 1 to May 31. The WFN then will announce the results in June, and one town from the United States and one from Canada each will win $25,000 to be used to boost fishing and tourism in their respective communities.
Last year, Baudette came close, placing third among more than 300 nominations and receiving $2,500. Roscoe, N.Y., known as “Trout Town USA,” won last year’s contest, while Waddington, N.Y., placed second.
