In yet another sign of spring, the Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce issued a news release this morning reminding anglers about the Devils Lake Chamber Walleye Tournament, which is set for June 22-23.
That’s a ways off, of course, but there’s an incentive for teams to enter early. According to the Chamber, teams that sign up for the tournament by March 31 will be entered into a drawing, and five teams will have their entry fees paid by local businesses. The entry fee is $220 per team, plus a $30 banquet fee.
First place is worth $5,000, the Chamber said, and funds raised from the tournament to into the payout and to fund conservation projects around the lake. The tournament dates back to 1977, and since then, Devils Lake has grown from 40,000 acres to upwards of 250,000 acres, according to the Chamber.
