Outdoors Sports Shows Offer Sure Sign Of Spring

Not that there’s been much winter in the first place — so far, at least — but the outdoor sports show season is a sure sign of spring.

Perhaps the biggest show in the area is the Red River Valley Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping and Vacation Show, set for March 1-4 at the Fargodome. This year’s event, the 47th annual, features about 200 exhibitors ranging from boat and RV dealers to fishing camps and outfitters. There’ll also be seminars from walleye pro Tommy Skarlis, dog training expert Chad Hines, fishing and hunting guide and outdoors TV personality Jason Mitchell and bow-hunting authority Tony Peterson. In Grand Forks, the Grand Forks Men’s Show is set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Alerus Center. Events on tap include Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetails live deer display and world goose calling champion “Big” Sean Hammock.

If a road trip is on your agenda, the Northwest Sportshow in Minneapolis marks its 80th anniversary this year. This year’s show is set for March 28-April 1 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. For more information, click here.
